ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Moorestown microbrewery is primed to be a first – the first brewery in Moorestown, and the first of its kind in the state of New Jersey.

A Brief History

Moorestown Town Council set the stage for a microbrewery in 2021 after voting unanimously to approve an ordinance that would permit breweries, distilleries and winery salesrooms in town. The Community House, a nonprofit 501(c)3, located on Main Street in the heart of Moorestown, is the perfect fit for the town’s first microbrewery. A hub of community events and activities since 1926, the Community House enlisted partners Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) and King’s Road Brewing Company to create plans to revitalize the building’s indoor, unused pool space and create a new economic spark for Main Street.

The Partnership

The Community House, RCBC and King’s Road Brewing Company are working with JRP Architects of Riverton, Grace Construction of Moorestown and Moorestown Township officials to design plans for the microbrewery, while the Community House board rolls out fundraising  goals to help bring the full project to fruition. With an eye toward meeting all conditions set forth by Moorestown Township and New Jersey’s Alcoholic Beverage Control board, the Community House is hoping the microbrewery will be operational by late 2025 or early 2026.

Educational Pathways

The Community House, RCBC and King’s Road all share a mutual interest in creating an educational pathway into the craft brewing industry for local students. After receiving a grant from New Jersey’s Higher Education Equipment Leasing Fund, RCBC secured the equipment necessary to establish a brewery program. The college is working to create an associate degree in fall 2025 with a certificate program available this fall so that students can begin to complete their general requirements before the brewery curriculum is approved. The program will include classroom education and hands-on experience in launching and running a brewery.
